Total transformation of UD Almería

The Rojiblancos complete the first third of the season with a radical change. From being in the drop zone, they have moved to the top zone with one game in hand. They have picked up 13 of the last 15 points and they have clinched 3 back-to-back home victories

A man is not measured by how many times he falls, but how many times he gets back up. UD Almería played their 14th LaLiga Hypermotion match and have just reached the first third of the season with a radical change. From a negative streak -4 points out of 18 in play- to an outstanding streak -13 points out of 15 in play-. And with the handicap of having played more games as visitors than at home.

The Rojiblancos have climbed up 10 places in the table, swapping the drop zone of relegation to lower-tier Primera RFEF for the top zone of the table.

There is no record of a UD Almería team that has scored 10 consecutive goals and scored at least two goals in each of these games. In addition to having the top scorer in the Segunda division, the squad has a bunch of up to 9 different scorers after Édgar González joined the extensive list. An  attacking strength that is shining thanks to the defensive confidence shown over these last five match weeks. Although it is true that none of them have managed to keep a clean sheet, it is significant that of those 6 goals conceded, 2 have come from dynamic play.

UD Almería have only been left without scoring this campaign in a single game against CD Eldense. The circumstances - injuries, bookings or FIFA period - have allowed us to explore the squad that has performed remarkably. Head coach Rubi has used all his troops he has at his disposal and these changes, far from noticing it negatively, have served to test the individual capabilities of players with the likes of Gui Guedes, who until the last game had barely played 24 minutes and whose starting position against Deportivo de la Coruña was taken advantage of by the Portuguese midfielder.

The team are demonstrating tactical flexibility with different designs proposed by the Catalan gaffer (defence of three centre-backs, two forwards...) and variations within them, which have also contributed to extending this unbeaten run of results.

In addition, along with Levante UD, UD Almería are the team that have played as host the fewest times (6 games) this season. At home, they have clinched three consecutive victories and are beginning to build an indestructible fortress in their Stadium. There is no doubt that there is still a long way to go, nor that this UD Almería have managed to reverse an extremely complex situation.
