The UD Almería Foundation has been honoured with the Women’s Sports Award at the third edition of the Almería Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Awards, held at Santa Ana Castle in Roquetas de Mar. The Foundation’s coordinator, Rocío Muñoz, attended the ceremony alongside first-team captains Jessica Higueras, Paqui Campoy, Lucía López, Mireya Sánchez and María Gil, who collected the award on behalf of the Club.

The award recognises the work carried out by the Foundation to promote, develop and consolidate women’s football in the province of Almería, as well as its commitment to providing girls and young women with a space where they can develop, compete and grow through sport.

The gala, held under the slogan ‘Creating female role models in favour of equality’, brought together more than 100 representatives from the institutional, business and social sectors. The event was organised by Combo Comunicación and Rebeca Gómez as part of the ‘Unimos Talento’ project, with the support of, among other institutions and organisations, Roquetas de Mar Town Council, the Andalusian Women’s Institute and the University of Almería.

The UD Almería women’s football set-up currently comprises 3 registered teams: the UD Almería Women first-team competing in Segunda RFEF women's fourth-tier, UD Almería Women 'B', one division below and also UD Almería Women U16.
