Rubi: 'The key was to score soon after their equaliser'

The UD Almería head coach applauded the performance put in by his team and recognises: 'The match was decisive in terms of the result, but highly competitive in some sections. I think Raving de Ferrol have made it quite difficult for us.'

UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' visited the A Malata Stadium press room to make a post-match assessment of the big win over Racing de Ferrol: 'The match was decisive in terms of the result, but it was highly competitive in some sections and I think Racing de Ferrol have made it quite difficult for us. It's true that we've got that strength and we're a team with many resources in attack. The key was to score soon after their equaliser because there, we've left our opponents affected. Praise the players on their performance considering the bad weather conditions,' stated Rubi.

The Rojiblancos' gaffer recognised that the patch they are going through at a level of faith is brilliant: 'We're confident that we can face the toughest opponents with the situation that you want that the players believe they'll win anyway. It'll change, I hope it takes time to do so.'

The Catalan also applauded the defensive character of Racing de Ferrol and considers: 'They're a team that will make it difficult for others to score against them, as they have shown with 8 clean sheets, they work very well defensively. Maybe they'd need to improve their pinpoint precision and fight because there's time to avoid the drop, as soon as they get a few consecutive good results they can get out of there.'

The Vilassar de Mar native spoke about one of the big names of the fixture in Galicia: Luis Suárez, who put in a five-star display, even scoring a hat-trick: 'That's what it means to have an easily identified player, he's showing that, in addition, he has a desire to help a very big team and when you have a footballer like him with that involvement... It's being lucky, that strange things don't happen to him and let him flow because he performs at a level of another football division.'

Finally, Rubi interpreted the fact that they were temporary leaders of the standings: 'While we've been winning games, things have been turning upside down because it's impossible for everyone to do so. Being top of the table may reflect that you're doing well, but it isn't guaranteed that you've already got the job done.'
