Robertone: 'We must light the spark of hope'

The UD Almería co-captain told UDA Radio: 'We still have time' and called for the utmost unity among the fans for these 6 matches, 'although the first step depends on us.'

UD Almería co-captain Lucas Robertone spoke in an interview with UDA Radio about the crucial moment the Rojiblancos are in: 'If we can take anything positive from this situation, it's that we still have time, because there are 6 matches left. Even though we're out of the play-offs, the team are going to fight for those spots. I'm one of those who believes that when things have gone well, it's because we're all on the same boat; when things go badly, it's when we must be the most united. We have the squad to win promotion and we're going to fight for that to the death.'

The Argentinean acknowledges the difficulties they've been experiencing for some time now: 'We're strong at home, but away from home, we're struggling a lot more. The mood during matches has a huge impact, both for better and for worse, and now, when we concede a goal, it affects us more than usual.'

The schedule calls for two consecutive matches at the UDA Stadium, and Robertone spoke about Racing Club Ferrol: 'You should never underestimate your opponents, no matter where they're in the table.'

It has nothing to do with them being behind; they'll go out to play and fight to win. Of course, we feel the need to go for the 3 points, so we're not going to let our guard down or relax in the final minutes. The match against FC Cartagena put us on alert.'

Robertone is one of the captain's armband wearers and has explained his role in the team: 'I'm someone who tries to lift my team-mates' spirits up, especially individually, but I've also needed the help of my team-mates because there are very difficult moments. We're a group in which we try to lift each other up so I'd put my hand in the fire for each of our players in terms of commitment and responsibility.'

The UDA fans hope their players achieve the ultimate goal, starting with the first of the last 6 finals, which will be played during a workday and late in the afternoon: 'We have to light the spark of hope in the fans so that they will believe in this team again.' I hope we can achieve that union because it's the only path to promotion.'
