Koné: "This injury has been one of the hardest moments of my life"

The UD Almería centre-forward shares on UDA Radio the distressing moment of the fracture in his right ankle: 'As soon as I fell onto the pitch, the first thing I saw was my foot turned. Also, the Malian got emotional when talking about the strong support he has received from his family and the birth of his daughter

'It's the first time I've been injured like this and it's been quite hard, one of the hardest moments of my life'… This is how UD Almería centre-forward Ibrahima Koné began his interview on UDA Radio, opening up about how bad it was when he suffered a fracture with dislocation in his right ankle.

It happened last October and the Malian was playing a friendly with the national team of his home country: 'I remember perfectly the injury, I can't forget it. As soon as I fell onto the pitch, the first thing I saw was my foot turned and I put my hand on my leg to hold it; it hurt a lot. At that moment many things went through my mind...my wife, who was pregnant, my mother… I felt very afraid,' he said.

'The injury was quite serious, it was a stroke of bad luck; I believe in God and football has these things, anything can happen, both good and bad,' the 24-year-old added.

The Malian striker, with tears rolling down his cheek said: 'Luckily, I have my family who have supported me a lot as well as the fans. I try to forget the injury and focus on the team.'

The UD Almería player has had a tough time, but now he has many reasons to smile: 'The birth of my daughter has been an incredible feeling, it's also a extra reason to work more and rejoined the team. I'm very glad that she was born in Almería, the people here are very kind to me and I'm very happy in this city.'
