Vicente Moreno: We're playing against a great team, but if we do things right, we'll have chances to win

UD Almería head coach Vicente Moreno admits that they have a difficult challenge ahead although they will face it with confidence and the hope that they can win

'The game against Villarreal CF is going to be really tough because we're playing against a great team, in their stadium and with a new head coach in the driving seat, something that always produces a reaction. If we do things well, we'll have chances to win,' stated UD Almería gaffer Vicente Moreno in the press conference prior to Sunday's fixture at the La Cerámica Stadium.

'What happens during the game is one thing, and the final result another,' he said. 'Whether you do it very well or not so well, the score can be favorable or negative,' he continued and gave examples of the matches played by UD Almería in which they got good vibes, at times, but the results have not been the desired. It had an impact on the tie in Cádiz by playing outnumbered; in the two penalties against Rayo Vallecano; in equalising against Celta de Vigo, being on the verge of winning and in the end losing... Therefore, he considered it key 'that the players know what they have to do and that they give it their all.' Of course, he clarified: 'If we cannot do what we have planned, we must have alternatives. My goal, beyond what we want to do, is to be the best in all aspects of the game.'

UD Almería play again 16 days after the last league encounter: 'The wait has been long. There have been many days of training, which  have allowed us to work with the players we had available at least,' although the absences of the internationals have been a handicap, but they are all here now, although some have arrived late. He announced that a regular player in the starting XI will miss out for sure and also that there are some doubts about others due to physical issues. He gave no names though.

When asked if his team had the need to win, he responded emphatically and bluntly: 'In football, there's always a need to win, but we're also demanding with the will to achieve it now.'

Mr Moreno spoke about the newly appointed Villarreal CF head coach and said: 'I'm glad that Pacheta has the opportunity to train again, but not the dismissal of another team-mate, something I don't like to happen.' He also pointed out: 'I've faced him in all the tiers with nice objectives. We know each other well.'

The man at the helm of the Rojiblancos' team considers Villarreal CF 'as one of the great clubs of Spanish football' with excellent footballers. He considered that the appointment 'is a very difficult challenge,' yet he underlined: 'We face it with confidence and the hope that we can win.'

Moreover, when asked if the fact that the next opponents have a new head coach in the driving seat can be positive or negative, Mr Moreno stated: 'You never know, we don't have a clear pattern about the football that Villarreal CF are going to play now, but they do.'
