Juan Ibiza: ‘We have got enough potential to win in Zaragoza’
The centre-back is ‘overjoyed’ about his return to play after long-term injury, and claims that Almería did not deserve to lose to Las Palmas
Juan Ibiza, who returned to action following his recovery from long-term knee injury, explained that, despite losing yesterday’s home game was definitely a ‘bittersweet moment’, he was ‘overjoyed’ after spending so much time away from the team.’ On this subject, he added: ‘Last months have been especially hard. It was a long recovery process but in the end, hard work paid off.’
The Almeria’s defender gave everyone the fright when he had to come off the pitch and be replaced. However, many people thought that experiencing that setback was a bad omen. As a consequence, this led him to prove them wrong: ‘I’m in good spirits and I can’t wait to play again.’ At the same time, the 24-year-old centre-back expressed his feelings: ‘A couple of days before you might dwell on it, but once you see yourself in there, the only thing you feel is the burning desire to play.’
Juan Ibiza also spoke about the defeat against Las Palmas, highlighting that ‘Let’s say that it was not a brilliant game, but we did not deserve to lose at all.’ In his opinion, Almería had more ball possession, pressed high up the pitch creating more chances and ended up being cautioned for a foul in a move, in which the opponents were more successful.’
Regarding next Saturday’s fixture in Zaragoza, the central defender underlined the importance of showing their best red and white version in La Romareda. ‘If we think that we already know what will happen from here to the end of the season, we are wrong. We are going to prove that we are a great team and that we have enough potential to win’, he concluded.
