José María Salmerón takes over as UD Almería 'B' head coach

The Almería-born delivers his first training session with the Academy prospects and will be on the bench at the Chapín Stadium on Sunday against Xerez Deportivo FC

Newly-appointed head coach José María Salmerón has already conducted his first training session with UD Almería 'B'. He will be at the helm of the second team for the remainder of this season and the 2026/27 season, replacing Alberto Lasarte, who will remain within the youth Academy's sporting structure.

UD Almería 'B' are second-bottom in the Segunda RFEF Group IV standings with only 3 points picked up from 9 matches. The youthful Rojiblancos edged past bottom-team Atlético Malagueño 1-0 on Matchday 2, losing the rest of their games (8): 7 of them consecutively in recent weeks.

José María Salmerón takes on the challenge of turning things around. The Almería-born gaffer, who has extensive experience in higher divisions and also has a past with the Rojiblancos, will make his debut on Sunday in the match against Xerez Deportivo FC at the Chapín Stadium.
