José María Gutiérrez felt quite emotional when it was time to say goodbye
The Almeria’s head coach met with those who have been his players and received a standing ovation from the footballers
The UD Almeria players gave José María Gutiérrez a good send-off when he was about to leave the club after his contract termination. He headed down to the dressing room before the afternoon training session began at Juegos Mediterráneos to speak with the footballers, other coaching staff members, medical services and kit men.
The former Real Madrid player, who was accompanied by the club’s CEO, Mohamed El Assy, met in the dressing room with all the members of the Almeria’s squad, including the second team players who were training with the first-team side after the coronavirus outbreak. All of the UD Almeria players bade José María Gutiérrez farewell. He also received a standing ovation and left the dressing room feeling quite emotional and with tears in his eyes. The fitness coach Javier Agenjo and the goalkeeper coach Borja Álvarez, who arrived in Almería along with José María Gutiérrez, have also terminated their contracts. The three of them collected their personal belongings from the changing rooms and left the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium afterwards.
