José Corpas: ‘It is time to achieve an emotional balance’

The UD Almeria right-winger celebrates that LaLiga is arranging specific dates for the return to competition

Once another week of group-training kicked off, José Corpas spoke to the club’s official media and expressed his ‘sheer happiness with the fact that LaLiga is arranging specific dates for the return to competition’. The player justified that it is a positive indication that we can ‘get back to normal as soon as possible’. For this reason, he recognised: ‘Although training is fine, we can’t wait to play. We are working hard for it and we really want to get there keeping physically fit in the best possible way. I believe we will manage to do it.’

Since the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, already spoke of estimated dates in which the ball will roll again in official matches, Corpas highlighted that for the remaining matchdays of the 2019/20 campaign, it will be necessary to ‘achieve an emotional balance when facing both defeats and victories.’ This will be the best way to deal with the situation because there will be ‘very few days to analyse our performance on the pitch after a game.’

In a matter of weeks, it seems that the return of football might have been rushed. The Jaén-born player stated that the UD Almería players have not stopped training at home with some limitations in lockdown and at Juegos Mediterraneos for some time now. ‘The truth is that we are doing better since we have been taking part in small-group training’, he underlined while being aware of the importance that these days will have for that first match of the 'new normality'.

Additionally, José Corpas said that the key to success for the Rojiblancos to win against Albacete is ‘fleshing out the details when preparing for the match, that will definitely make a big difference.’ The right-winger continued explaining that it will be a ‘considerable physical effort to be made. We will have to stay focused on every single minute during the game because that will help us bag the three points.’
