Time for reflection to restore unity

UD Almería hold a recovery session after Santander defeat as focus shifts to Málaga CF clash

UD Almería’s squad held a recovery session immediately after returning from Santander, combining physical work with a period of reflection following the defeat at El Sardinero Stadium. The team will rest on Tuesday before turning full attention to Sunday’s visit of Málaga CF.

Shortly before midday, the UD Almería travelling squad landed back in the city and headed straight to the UD Almería Stadium for their usual post-match recovery session. Alongside the physical work at the Anexo base, there was also a collective mental reset, with the squad reflecting on recent events in a bid to regain unity and stay aligned with their objectives.

After the match at El Sardinero stadium, head coach Rubi, speaking in his post-match press conference, and players such as EmbarbaArribas and Arnau Puigmal all admitted that nothing went right against Real Racing Club. Nevertheless, they stressed that the team remain firmly in the promotion race and must now focus on Málaga CF, who are also chasing the same goal. The gaffer underlined the importance of bouncing back from this setback, just as Racing themselves had done after a heavy defeat in Andorra.

Work now continues. Tuesday will be a day off, with training resuming on Wednesday to prepare for Sunday’s 9pm Spanish Time clash at the UD Almería Stadium. A key fixture lies ahead, with 4 training sessions scheduled as the Indálicos look to respond to the disappointment in Santander and secure 3 crucial points in the push for automatic promotion to the top flight.

As previously reported, Lopy will sit out the match through suspension, while Baba’s condition remains to be assessed after he was forced off at El Sardinero stadium. On a positive note, Léo Baptistão will be available again after serving his ban, while Gui Guedes could also return following his recovery from a muscle injury.
