
Jorge Cuenca named in Spain U21 squad to compete in UEFA European U21 Championship
The centre-back, Sadiq (Nigeria) and Ramazani (Belgium U21) will depart after Sunday's fixture in Ponferrada
UD Almería centre-back Jorge Cuenca, has been named in the latest Spain Under-21s squad to play the group stage of the UEFA European U21 Championship, so after next Sunday’s match against SD Ponferradina, the Madrid-born will depart on international duty. Sadiq, called up to the Nigeria senior team, and Ramazani, selected in the Belgium U21s squad, will also join their national teams.
Manu Morlanes, who was also shortlisted along with Cuenca for the European tournament, has not been named in the latest squad compiled by the U21s national coach Luis de la Fuente.
As mentioned above, the three players will set off on international duty after next Sunday's match versus SD Ponferradina and therefore, will miss the league games against CD Leganés (Saturday, 27 March) and Málaga CF (Tuesday, 30 March). Cuenca and Sadiq will also arrive just in time for the Friday’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano on 2 April. Ramazani will participate in a training camp with two friendlies on 24 and 27 March.
