Jorge Cuenca joins training after playing for Spain Under-21s
Centre-back Nikola Maras gets back on Friday while goalie Giorgi Makaridze travels directly to Las Palmas from Georgia, via Barcelona
Jorge Cuenca, central defender of UD Almería, has joined the Rojiblancos’ training after having played the two matches for Spain Under-21s, competing in the qualifiers for the European Championship. The 20-year-old footballer was a starter in both games from A to Z, helping out his side in managing to qualify for the final phase of the European tournament. Cuenca arrived in good health, although he has not completed the entire session so as to give him a break after the 180 minutes played for Spain Under-21s.
As for the other two UD Almería internationals, they are both joining the squad very soon. Nikola Maraš, who has been away on international duty with Serbia national football team, although he was not named in the starting XI, joins this Friday. He returns from his homeland, via Malaga, where the Belgrade-born player will be undertaking a Covid-19 PCR test as required by LaLiga’s protocol. Regarding goalie Makaridze, who played one of the three games for the Georgia senior team, he travels directly from his country to Las Palmas, via Barcelona, where he will also get a Covid PCR test supervised by LaLiga.
Almería continue putting their hearts and souls into training ahead of the appointment in Las Palmas, and this Thursday they slightly took their foot off the pedal after the demanding and intense training sessions carried out last Wednesday. Lazo has once again been working out on the sidelines following a muscle ache that will force him miss the away fixture at the Gran Canaria Stadium. He suffers from a hamstring injury at the back of his left thigh.
On Friday, once the players complete one last training sesh at the Anexo training pitch, they will be flying charter to Las Palmas (Canary Islands).
