Jorge Cuenca, a tactically-strong and essential centre-back for Almería

The 20-year-old defender, 1,90 metres tall, arrives on loan from Villarreal, who recently acquired him from FC Barcelona B

Almería have completed the signing of a new player. His name is Jorge Cuenca, a tactically-strong and essential centre-back who arrives on loan from Villarreal, although he was playing for the FC Barcelona B team during the last seasons. He is the fourteenth addition to the Rojiblanca squad, not counting Maras and Fran Villalba.

Jorge Cuenca Barreno was born on 17th November, 1999 in Madrid. The 22-year-old player took his first steps as a footballer training at AD Alcorcón Youth and later he signed for FC Barcelona B in the past 2017/18 season. He played 23 league games in Segunda Division -second-tier of Spanish football- that season and previously, he had played 5 in the same league level for Alcorcón. In 2018 he made his debut with the Azulgrana Barça first-team in Copa del Rey and was named in the squad list several times. He is a Spain Under-21s international.

Cuenca’s main position is central defender, although he can also operate as right-back. Two of the left-footed player skills are tactical knowledge and passing accuracy. The new signing is 1,90 metres tall and has been demonstrating his good ability to move up and down the pitch with full control of the ball.
