Javi Robles: ‘I’ve supported UD Almería since I was little’

The young player prides himself on the great opportunity to take part in Rubi’s senior side pre-season

Javi Robles has caught up with the Club’s official media feeling ‘very grateful for the opportunity’ to take part in the pre-season of the team led by Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia, 'Rubi'. The youngster did not hesitate to highlight ‘I’m really proud to be able to work along with the LaLiga SmartBank side’ as he was born in Almería and has been supporting the first team since he was little.

It is not the first time that the midfielder has trained in the summer with the UD Almeria senior team. Javi Robles also joined them in the Marbella training camp last summer. Of course, the extra experience makes him feel ‘more comfortable’ and ‘at the disposal of what the team needs.’

The 20-year-old truly believes that he will be able ‘to continue growing within a great team that has the prime objective of earning promotion to Primera Division.’ For this reason, he reiterated his heartfelt gratitude and shared his driving ambition in taking advantage of this time to fight for a place in the squad: ‘I’ll try to stay, why not?’ However, he is fully aware that the first-team Rojiblancos have excellent quality, so he always tries to learn ‘the best of each of squad members.’

Robles is not the only one. His Almeria ‘B’ team-mates Raúl Caballero and Aitor Puñal have also been called up to the pre-season training. All of them, as stated by Javi Robles, are verifying that ‘the coaching staff are very supportive’ to the ‘B’ team players, which is helping them to settle in. Regarding the head coach, the midfielder prospect stressed ‘I think he’s a coach who has very clear ideas and who has come here to get promotion to the top flight.’

The Academy product also spoke about the long queues built up to renew Season Tickets at the Juegos Mediterraneos offices, highlighting ‘it just goes to show every day what this ambitious Club aspires to.’ Meanwhile, he also added: ‘I’ve noticed during the season ticket campaign that people are actually deeply involved so I just can say that we’re absolutely happy because we always need them. We love playing with fans in the stadium.’ la The homegrown player has also replied to a question about the fact that coach Óscar Fernández is taking to the Almería ‘B’ dugout: ‘The Club is also determined to build a high-performance Almeria ‘B’. He is a great head coach. I haven't had the chance to talk to him yet, but I will.’ He is one of the Academy second team captains and has made it clear that Almeria ‘B’s objective is to go up ranks so it will be ‘much easier’ for the first team to scout for Academy hopefuls. Robles concluded that hard work and humility are perfect ingredients in a bid to grow as a footballer and be able to sign on pro contracts eventually.
