Javi Muñoz: experience, quality and balance in midfield

The 31-year-old Madrid-born central midfielder, who has made almost 400 professional appearances, joins UD Almería from Getafe CF. During his time at UD Las Palmas, he was coached by Xavier García Pimienta

Javi Muñoz, a 31-year-old Madrid-born central midfielder, has put pen to paper on a 2-year deal with UD Almería following his spell at Getafe CF, where he most recently played. He becomes the latest new addition to the Rojiblanco project, following the arrivals of goalkeeper Áron Yaakobishvili, centre-back Jorge Pulido, midfielders Mikel Vesga and Quim Junyent, and wingers Álex Sola and Brian Cipenga.

The Club’s latest signing is a highly experienced midfielder with almost 400 professional appearances to his name. He combines quality with balance in midfield and is capable of performing a variety of roles, both in terms of helping to organise play and contributing defensively.

During his time at UD Las Palmas, before joining Getafe CF, Muñoz was coached by Xavier García Pimienta, who gave his backing to the midfielder’s arrival at UD Almería.

Javier Muñoz Jiménez was born on 28 February 1995 in Parla, Madrid. He came through the Real Madrid CF Academy, progressing to the Club’s 'B' team, before going on to represent Lorca CF, Deportivo Alavés, Real Oviedo, CD Tenerife, CD Mirandés, SD Eibar, UD Las Palmas and Getafe CF.
