Iván Barbero: ‘We are ready to play some great games and achieve our goal’

The UD Almería centre-forward highlights that the squad feel physically fit in the third week of training

This time around, Iván Barbero analysed the current situation of UD Almería and expressed his positive thought that ‘we are ready to play great in the eleven games and achieve our goal.’ The player thinks that regularity will be the key to remain at the top of the table in the final stretch of the 2019/20 campaign ‘I believe that we have to string together some back-to-back wins because in my opinion not all the teams will be so regular’, he added.

Before that, the UD Almeria centre-forward, just like his team-mates, talked about his first impressions on stepping up to training in groups of up to 14 players ‘it seems something more real’. He did not hesitate to highlight: ‘We are starting the third week feeling well. So far so good.’

Barbero was able to feel that the day dawned with lower temperatures in Almería city. However, this will surely be a determining factor in the remaining league encounters, he has made it clear: ‘we have no choice but to get used to it in the next months.’

The 21-year-old centre-forward also spoke about the tight scheduling of fixtures. Despite the fact that they will have to play games every 72 hours, he is not concerned about it because ‘there is a great mixture of talented players in the team.’ Afterwards, he stated: ‘For instance, if we played on Wednesday and on Sunday, we would have players who may feel fresh and even players who played on Thursday and therefore are ready to do it again on Sunday. I bet that will help us.’

During the conversation on the club's official radio station, the Almería-born player spoke about his adaptation to the Rojiblanco team and explained that it has been quick due to the fact that ‘Almeria have a fairly young squad’. In this sense, the striker pointed out: ‘We are a great group of players, with driving ambition, eager to dream and aiming to gain promotion… and that is what the city and all of us want.’

In addition, since he signed his contract with UD Almería, he has noticed that his playing attributes have been changing with respect to those he put into practice in Northern Spain. ‘Now I am able to adapt successfully, I am having more game ball possession and control, which is what makes a professional footballer’, he concluded.
