Iñigo Eguaras: ‘UD Almería have bet on me; now I have to take on responsibility’
The latest signing, who was presented by Mohamed El Assy, points out ‘I’ve come to do my bit and be the best version of myself’
‘I’m proud that UD Almería have bet on me, and now I have to take on responsibility,’ stated Iñigo Eguaras during his official presentation as a new Rojiblanco. Next to him, UD Almeria General Director Mohamed El Assy, who explained ‘we’ve fought to sign him since his qualities in midfield complement our squad perfectly. As a footballer, he’s very technical. His experience will be a plus in the team. As a person, he’s professional. He’ll surely bring us good luck and it’ll help us.’
Iñigo Eguaras moves from Real Zaragoza, the second-tier side that he’s been playing since the past 2017/18 season. He is 29 years old and his height is 1.81m. He’s signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Indalicos. ‘The squad members have welcomed me warmly. You can tell they’re good people. They’ve found their own path on the way to success. They’re the strongest team in this tier. I’ve come to do my bit and be the best version of myself towards the goal of moving up to Primera Division,’ emphasises the Navarra native footballer.
When asked about his player attributes, Eguaras replied ‘I describe myself as a player who has got a good game awareness and likes passing into space; I’m more of an offensive footballer.’
The Antsoain-born player has spoken with Rubi ‘he’s told me to just be myself. We’ve known each other for years of having faced each other. I know how he works as a head coach, I have references and I’m very similar to what he’s looking for…having the ball, combination game… I think I fit into that idea.’
The new Rojiblanco is convinced that the team will manage to reverse the situation in LaLiga SmartBank, because they have got enough potential for it as they have shown throughout the first round of the season.
Iñigo has arrived with references from UD Almería since as he recognised ‘I was informed by Vada and Petrović, and in previous campaigns Álvaro Giménez and Juanjo Narváez about the Club and the city. I’ve got good references and I don't have any problem at the moment. A new stage begins with the aim of being able to achieve that desired promotion to the top division”.
