Rubi: 'We've earned a valuable point'
The UD Almería head coach values the one-all draw with Elche CF based on how the match panned out. The gaffer states: 'We're at that point in the league where everything requires more effort and we must turn it around, especially from the squad.'
Another point on the board. UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' gave his account of the competitive match in which they rescued a last-gasp hard-fought point from the jaws of defeat. It is a valuable point that keeps the Indálicos in the play-offs zone. 'I though we'd lose the game at first, so I'm very happy with the effort made by the players not to let it happen... with two less players because Arnau has made a huge effort playing through the pain,' stated the Catalan.
The Rojiblancos' head coach considers that the opening minutes of the encounter have been dominated by Elche CF and that, above all, in the second half, UD Almería have managed to fight back despite having conceded the goal: 'We've been able to make changes in a bid to create a goal-scoring situation, although it is true that in the first half an hour Elche CF outplayed us. In the second half, we started very well with a change of formation that surprised them, but they scored when we were performing at our best,' he explained.
The Catalan ended his post-match press conference by self-criticising the winless streak his team are on, but highlighting that it is just a bump in the road: 'We're having a hard time winning. We're on a 5-game winning streak without doing so, but it's also true that we don't lose at home. The team will win again, I'm sure. I reckon we're at that point in the league when everything requires more effort and we must turn it around, especially from the dressing room.'
