Miguel De la Fuente': 'All our hard work this week has paid off'

The UD Almería forward struck again, coming off the bench this time. 'I’m here to do my bit, whatever way I can,' he said

Miguel de la Fuente, just as he did in Mallorca, grabbed the winner against Burgos CF, this time after coming off the bench. He was not in the starting XI, despite being in contention to start, with the head coach explaining that he had been carrying a knock in the days leading up to the game.

Asked about it after the final whistle, the 27-year-old said: 'Thalys scored in Córdoba too and he didn’t start the following game. We’re all here to do our bit and respect the gaffer's decisions. He did a great job and when I came on, I gave it everything, as I always do. I’m here to do my bit, whatever way I can.'

The striker added: 'As a forward, I want to score in every game. I’ve found the net in 2 games on the bounce now and I’m really proud and happy about that. But even when I don’t score, I’ll always give everything for the team.'

The UD Almería forward also reflected on the comeback: 'When you come from behind to win a game like this, it’s a great reward for all the hard work we’ve put in during the week.'

The Tudela de Duero (Valladolid) native continued: 'In our last home game, I had 3 chances and didn’t take any of them and I was gutted. Today was completely different. That’s football.'

De la Fuente also praised the team’s all-round performance: 'We’ve found the right balance. We’re solid at the back, we’re playing well going forward, and we know how to manage different phases of a game. And against Burgos CF, we showed great character to turn it around and come away with all 3 points.'
