Rubi: 'We've staged a comeback based on good football'

The UD Almería head coach highlighted the competitiveness of the Andalusian derby and the pride he feels towards his players 'because at no time have they lost faith.'

UD Almería head coach Rubi headed to the press room to share his take on the 2-1 victory over rivals Granada CF, which represents the fifth back-to-back victory: 'There were two evenly-matched sides in the first half. I think we missed a clean sheet because we played a very good match defensively speaking. The second half has been more entertaining. We've managed to dominate the rivals. But it's absolutely normal that in a big game with two great teams there's alternate dominance, especially at the beginning of the game.'

Rubi found the main key to the triumph and stated: 'The team members are prepared so that whoever plays can perform well. Today the match fatigue was clear and we've overcome it with some substitutions. I'm extremely proud of my players because at no time have they lost faith and have staged a comeback based on good football,' expressed the gaffer.

The Catalan wants the positive streak to be enjoyed, but at the same time he is not going to let anyone relax in the next few days: 'Winning like this is even more beautiful; coming back, seeing how the team turns the situation around, how they managed to win the ball back very quickly…. But I'm not going to let the euphoria be felt for even a minute because there's a long way to go and football takes many turns.'

'At any time we can lose second position and nothing happens as long as we keep up the good work like in the last few weeks,' the Vilassar de Mar explained. He praised his leading striker and the rest of his team-mates for the graft against the Nazaríes: 'The football we played has made it possible for Luis to have those opportunities. Of course, I'm delighted. In the second part, I'd highlight many players who have made it possible for Luis to show the skills we all know he has.'

Rubi insisted on the competitive nature of the Andalusian derby against Granada CF: 'Today's plan was to try to take advantage of what we understood to be their weaknesses and protect ourselves from their strengths. We knew that it was going to be a very tight match.'

Finally, Rubi thanked UD Almería's 12th Man fans and enjoyed the rocking atmosphere, which recorded the largest attendance, so far this season: 'It's very nice what we're experiencing with the fans, they're helping us loads,' he pointed out.
