Andrés Fernández: 'We produced an exceptional team performance'
The UD Almería goalkeeper praises his team's unity and calls for hard work and humility in pursuit of season targets
Andrés Fernández once again played a decisive role in UD Almería’s victory over Córdoba CF, delivering key saves at crucial moments to help secure a 4th consecutive win for the Rojiblancos.
Reflecting on the result, the keeper was keen to highlight the collective effort. ‘We all produced an exceptional performance, those who started and those who came on. We were a very united team and that’s the path we have to follow,’ the netminder said.
Assessing the match against the Blanquiverdes as a whole, Fernández underlined the strength of the first-half display: ‘The opening 45 minutes were very complete from us. We went into the break 2-0 up, but the margin could've been bigger because we created chances for that. In the second half they did well and we struggled a bit to read what the game required. But we managed to close it out and grab the 3 points.’
The experienced shot-stopper also took time to thank the supporters for their backing and stressed the importance of maintaining the right mindset for the challenges ahead.
‘We have to keep working hard and stay humble if we want to achieve our objectives this season,’ he concluded.
