UD Almería head coach Xavier García Pimienta spoke to the media following UD Almería's 3rd consecutive victory, a result which sees the Rojiblancos continue to climb the table. Following the win over RC Celta Fortuna, UD Almería now sit 4th.

The UD Almería head coach felt the final scoreline did not fully reflect what had taken place on the pitch, explaining that ‘we scored 2 goals early on, but we created plenty of chances to have won by a comfortable margin’.

Indeed, he added: ‘Had we been more clinical in attack, the victory would've been much clearer.’

Nevertheless, García Pimienta stressed: ‘The important thing is the 3 points’, while highlighting his team's attitude and the way they ‘knew how to compete against very young and talented opponents.'

The Barcelona native also praised his side for recording their 3rd clean sheet of the league campaign after 6 matches, insisting that it ‘has to be one of our hallmarks’.

The gaffer went on to discuss how the game developed, explaining: ‘We didn't sit back in the second half. We continued to create chances, but at 2-0 it was normal for RC Celta Fortuna to step forward. We couldn't afford to relax because, with the youth and talent they have, they could've caused us problems. There's a reason they're competing at this leveland several of their players are already alternating between the 'B' team and the first team.’

García Pimienta once again made changes to his starting XI, making 4 alterations from the previous match. Asked about his approach, he said: ‘I've got a difficult job when it comes to picking the team because everyone is ready to play. Today, the players who were best suited to the demands of the match started. There's very healthy competition within the squad.’

The head coach was also asked about the absence of goalkeeper Yaakobishvili and the injury of Rodrigo Ely, who has been in Vithas Hospital since Tuesday. Regarding Yaakobishvili, Pimienta explained: ‘He was given permission to be away for a personal matter and that permission was granted.’

As for the Brazilian, he added: ‘His ankle became more swollen than expected and the medical team felt that the best thing was for him to receive further treatment, which is why he was admitted to hospital. It wasn't because it was anything serious. He should be back training with us over the next few days.’
