Nelson Monte: 'Total team commitment is driving us forward'

The UD Almería's centre-back praises defensive solidity ahead of clash with league leaders Dépor

UD Almería defender and co-captain Nelson Monte has underlined the collective spirit within the squad, praising the team’s all-round defensive efforts as a cornerstone of their recent resurgence.

Speaking to UDA Radio, the Portuguese centre-back stressed the importance of unity on the pitch: 'There's a huge commitment from the entire team when it comes to defending, from the striker to the goalkeeper,' Monte noted.

'Everyone is putting in the work, especially those up front. If we keep this up, we're going to collect a lot of points from these 3 games. With our quality, we’ll always create chances to score,' the Lusitanian said.

The Vila da Conde native, who missed the start of the season through injury, has since established a solid centre-back partnership with team-mate Bonini: 'We’re building good chemistry and feel comfortable together on the pitch,' he added.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s showdown against league pacesetters RC Deportivo de La Coruña at the Abanca-Riazor Stadium, the 30-year-old acknowledged the scale of the challenge but remains confident in UD Almería’s ability to compete: 'Dépor are built to push for promotion, and it’s going to be very tough to defeat them. But we believe in what we’re doing. We’re a difficult team for anyone to face.
