Hard work and match scenarios at Juegos Mediterraneos

The Rojiblancos hope it will be third time lucky at El Toralín Stadium. Carriço available for selection

UD Almería worked hard in the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium during a tactical training ahead of the away match against SD Ponferradina on Sunday (kick-off 6:15pm).  El Toralin Stadium has been a difficult venue for the Rojiblancos to win over the last two seasons, just after the Bierzo-based team’s last promotion to the Second Tier.

Rubi will be able to count on Carriço once the paperwork has been sorted. The head coach worked hard to inculcate a team spirit into the players through specific tactical drills and different match scenarios in a bid to develop the players’ techniques in pressurised situations. UD Almería have lost in the last two seasons by the same result (2-1) at the SD Ponferradina’s home turf and now they hope that it will be the third time lucky on Sunday.

The next opponents from Castilla y Leon have started the championship strong as they sit third in the table level on points with second-placed UD Almería. SD Ponferradina beat Alcorcón (1-0) and Girona (2-1) at home and they won 0-1 over Eibar before losing 2-0 away to CD Tenerife.

The UD Almería first-team are training this Friday at the Anexo (9:45 am) while on Saturday, they will do so in the stadium. The Rojiblancos travelling squad will be flying charter to León city and then will continue by road to Ponferrada city on Saturday afternnon.
