Rubi: 'It's been a fantastic evening'

The UD Almería head coach expressed his immense satisfaction with how his team have qualified for the Spanish Cup round of 16 and stated: 'I'm very happy that our fans greatly enjoyed this match.'

UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' expressed his immense satisfaction in the post-match press conference with the resounding 4-1 victory after knocking Sevilla FC out in the Spanish Cup tie and qualifying for the round of 16.  In fact, the gaffer pointed out: 'I hope we can play football like the one we've played today. I reckon the second half was one of the best since I've been here.' Things went downhill at the beginning with the 0-1. They were better in the opening minutes, although little by little, we've been gaining momentum and we reached half-time level in terms of play, but trailing 0-1.'

Rubi valued the great performance from all his players and the ability to bounce back. It all started with Marezi's great leveller, about which the UD Almería head coach said: 'It was a very important day for him. We know he's capable of doing things like this. It took a long time to become what he's now. It's difficult for a player with few minutes to show what he really is. I'm very happy for him, for his goal and for the assist.'

The Catalan also praised Luis Suárez's hat-trick and in general, the display put in by all his players. Furthermore, as he stressed: 'No one can sleep here, as it's been shown, and this will be great for us for the return league fixtures,' in clear reference to players who have redeemed themselves.

UD Almería now will find out their next Spanish Cup round of 16 opponents in a draw that will take place at 1pm on Wednesday and the Vilassar de Mar native would like it to be fair to have a better chance of remaining in contention in the tournament instead of being paired with one of the biggest teams of Spanish football.
