Rubi: 'Football has been a bit cruel to us'
The UD Almería head coach regretted the 2-2 draw against Málaga CF after his team took a 2-0 lead, but he emphasises the effort: 'We're very discouraged because of the result, not because of the team's attitude or work.'
UD Almería head coach Rubi shared his post-match thoughts on the point obtained against Málaga CF, which represents the third consecutive draw. 'It's been one of the best games we've played lately. We did the most difficult thing, which was to lead 2-0 and it escaped us with a sudden shot from the edge of the box and a penalty. Then, we looked for the third goal and there couldn't have been a clearer chance than a penalty, but we hit the post... so I think football was a bit cruel to us today,' stressed the head coach.
The Catalan stated the frustration that the result represents and accuses the lack of offensive effectiveness: 'We're very discouraged by the result, not by the attitude or the work of the team, but that's how football is. Málaga CF have not given up in the full 90 minutes. They've managed to equalise due to their effort, but also due to our lack of pinpoint accuracy in front of goal.'
The UD Almería gaffer considers that the poor recent run of results obtained by the Indálicos has a lot to do with today's final result: 'We're closer to winning, although I don't like this streak at all because there are 7 games without winning. Let's see if we can reverse the situation, because I think that against Málaga CF we did not win because of inertia, not because of out performance.
Finally, the Vilassar de Mar native sent a message of motivation to the fans: 'I'm not going to let the footballers lose their spirits, there is still a lot of work to be done in this league. It's true that we'd like to be somewhat better positioned, but we aren't that far from fighting for everything and we are going to do it.'
