Gui Guedes is back in action

Portuguese midfielder Gui Guedes is once again available after recovering from the adductor injury he suffered just over a month ago. Head coach Rubi had already hinted ahead of the match against Racing Santander that he could have been included in the squad, but the coaching staff preferred not to take any risks.

Now, with an extra week of training, he is fully reintegrated into the squad and has been training normally alongside his team-mates.

His return comes at an important stage of the season, given several midfield absences. Lopy is suspended after being sent off at El Sardinero stadium, while Baba remains a doubt after not training with the group and doing individual work following discomfort that forced him off at half-time in the last match.

Meanwhile, Léo Baptistão is back available after serving a suspension for accumulated yellow cards. On the other hand, Nico Melamed had to leave training early due to discomfort, with the extent of his issue still unknown.

The squad resumed training after a rest day on Tuesday, focusing fully on preparation for Sunday’s crucial clash against Málaga CF, direct rivals in the tight promotion race sitting just 1 point behind in the standings.
