Gui Guedes returns to group training

The Portuguese midfielder, who underwent surgery on 22 August, took part in a partial training session with his team-mates, who welcomed him back with the traditional 'slaps tunnel'

Gui Guedes was the main new face as UD Almería returned to training following Monday's recovery session and Tuesday's day off. The Portuguese midfielder completed part of the session with the group, and his return to competitive action is approaching. He is now in the 8th week of his recovery after undergoing surgery at Vithas Hospital on 22 August.

As a reminder, Gui Guedes started UD Almería's opening league fixture against CD Eldense. The following day, he was unable to train due to discomfort, prompting medical tests that revealed a tear to the lateral meniscus in his left knee. As previously reported, he underwent arthroscopic surgery on 22 August, performed by Dr Claudio Vázquez. He began his rehabilitation on 26 August under the supervision of the Club's medical staff, led by Sebastián Jiménez. By mid-September, he had started individual on-pitch work away from the group and he has now rejoined his team-mates, even getting ahead of the expected recovery schedule.

On his return to training, Gui Guedes had to go through the customary 'slaps tunnel' from his team-mates. Léo Baptistão also faced the traditional welcome after reaching 150 appearances for the Rojiblancos in Sunday's match against CD Leganés.

Mikel Vesga was also in the spotlight as training resumed, although he worked separately while continuing his recovery from an ankle sprain. Meanwhile, as previously reported, Alex Sola has returned to the group after spending a week away for disciplinary reasons.

UD Almería are now fully focused on preparing for Saturday's 2pm fixture against Real Sociedad 'B' in San Sebastián. The Rojiblancos will be looking to defend their newly acquired top spot in the table against Sanse, a side that has collected just one point from their 4 home matches. Nevertheless, UD Almería are taking nothing for granted, recognising that their opponents have far greater potential than those figures suggest and have demonstrated their quality on the road.
