UD Almería midfielder Gui Guedes has undergone successful surgery for the fracture of the fifth metatarsal of his left foot, an injury he suffered last Sunday a few minutes after the match kick-off that UD Almería were playing against Málaga CF at the La Rosaleda Stadium.
After the medical tests, the fracture was detected. Early this Tuesday, the Portuguese midfielder was operated on by Dr Claudio Vázquez, head of the medical services of the Spanish football team at the Vithas Virgen del Mar Hospital in Almería. 'The operation consisted of percutaneous fixation plus demineralized bone matrix. We've stabilised the fracture and applied a treatment that will allow for optimal reintegration into sports practice in approximately 3 months, always depending on the rehabilitation,' explained Dr Vázquez Colomo.
The 22-year-old player will now begin a rehabilitation programme designed to strengthen the muscles and regain mobility.
