Gonzalo Melero: "The fans and the Club deserve that we give it our best shot until the end"

The UD Almería central midfielder has expressed on the Club's official radio his absolute determination with the team after serving his four-game suspension and highlights the importance of each remaining LaLiga EA Sports fixture

UD Almería central midfielder Gonzalo Melero spoke on UDA Radio after serving his four-match suspension and for one of the team captains, this time out of action 'has been way too long. It's hard to deal with when you can't help your team-mates on the pitch. Now what I have to do is defend this shirt until the end of the remaining games.'

The 30-year-old footballer explained how he felt at the time when the UD Almería failed to secure top-tier LaLiga safety against Getafe CF last Saturday. 'The day it ends isn't just another day, but it's true that the situation was very complicated. It's been a very difficult season, personally the most difficult of my footballing career,' he said.

'This dressing room need to disconnect and for the end of the season to arrive. Anyway, our fans and the Club deserve that we give it our best shot until the end,' he added.

The Madrid-born made it clear about the keys to the next campaign in second-tier LaLiga HyperMotion: 'We must learn from this season and soon we'll be back to the Primera Division. We must be humble and next year be aware that each game is going to be a war, it's going to be really difficult. Knowing this is essential.'

Although for many people the remaining LaLiga EA Sports fixtures no longer count for anything towards league survival, the UD Almería player disagrees and assures: 'The remaining games are vital, first of all to defend the UD Almería crest. Also, the fans deserve that we're fighting until the end, we owe it to them. Everyone has points at stake and a reason to fight for and we have to live up to it.'
