Garitano: "We've put Barcelona in trouble, but we cannot concede two goals from corners"

The man in the driving seat of UD Almería appreciated that his team played a good game against reigning LaLiga champions, although he also regretted the lack of effectiveness in set-pieces

UD Almería left the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys empty-handed after having played a good match against one of the best teams in the world. Gaizka Garitano gave his post-Barça verdict and highlighted: 'We've always been alive and close to winning the match. They can always score a goal due to their quality, but my team has played well.'

'Those two set-piece goals conceded were a shame, but we were very close to tying,' he added.

Regarding the Culés, the Rojiblancos' gaffer assured: 'They're a great team' although he also praised the effort of his players: 'But we have put them in trouble with the counter-attacks and looking for spaces, we've had possession of the ball for a long time, close to the opposing goal, we've scored two comeback goals… but it's difficult to fight back so many quality players,' the Bilbao-born said.

The 2-1 in favour of FC Barcelona was preceded by a non-existent corner-kick and regarding this fact, Mr Garitano stated: 'From the bench, it was very clear that it wasn't a corner, but in the end when you're the bottom team and you don't win, then everything piles up. They're small details that count in the end.'

To conclude his post-game assessment at the press conference, the Basque Country native assured: 'My team competes well in every game and in every pitch without exception, but for one reason or another, victories are still escaping us.' In addition, he pointed out: 'Lifting the team's spirits isn't complicated. They're more than motivated, that isn't a problem to be honest.'
