Garitano: "I'm happy with my team's performance but not with the result"

The UD Almería head coach gave his post-game assessment assuring: 'This is the path to follow.' He highlighted that the key is 'to recover players like Pubill, Melero, Luis Suárez….' Furthermore, Girona FC's gaffer Michel stated that his side did not deserve points

UD Almería head coach Gaizka Garitano sat down with the press in order to give his post-game assessment of the performance of his players in the match against runners-up Girona FC and highlighted that although the team has put in great performances before, this is the best one due to the quality and the scintillating season of the Catalan opponents: 'We've played good matches, but given today's opponents potential this one is praiseworthy. We're competing in all the games, we either share the spoils or end up edged out.' Although the Basque Country native stated: 'We have no excuses, we haven't won any game and we haven't been successful in this one. This is the way anyway.'

One of the highlights of the match has been the return to action of Luis Suárez, something that makes the Rojiblancos' head coach have less of a headache since for him it is vital to have a talented centre-forward in attack: 'It's impossible to play in the First Division without a centre-forward, we haven't had one for 3 months, I repeat, it's impossible like this. The arrival of Luis is going to give us a boost.'

To conclude his post-Girona verdict, the Bilbao-born gaffer pointed out, once again, the good display put in by his team: 'This is the intensity at which we have to play, we're solid and in attack we have skilful players. Let's hope it'll be a turning point in this second half of the season. The key is to recover players who haven't been in action for a long while such as Pubill, Melero, Suárez...'
