Mr Garitano gets to know UD Almería B team players
Five UD Almería B youngsters join the senior team players in training. Demanding session delivered at the Power Horse Stadium training ground. Mendes returns from international duty
Newly appointed UD Almería head coach Gaizka Garitano has begun to get to know the 'B' team players and in his second training session at the helm of the team, he counted on 5 Academy prospects to make up for the absences of the international and injured player. Full-back Peñalver, centre-backs Paco Sanz and Varó and midfielders Antonio Cantón and Marcos Peña trained this Tuesday under the guidelines of Mr Garitano, who has conducted a very intense session, mixing physical fitness work-outs with ball work.
The brand-new gaffer cannot work with long-term injured players Luis Suárez and Marc Pubill, who are in the medical room immersed in their respective rehabilitation processes; nor has he counted on Robertone and Edgar, who are still recovering from muscular discomfort, apart from the fact that Melero, as a precaution, has been treated by the physiotherapists as he felt some muscle pain in the final stretch of last Monday's preparation.
In addition, César Montes, Lopy and Koné are still away on international duty with the national teams of their respective countries. On the other hand, international Mendes, who joined up with Guinea Bissau, is now back into the fold. He picked up ankle issue after the game in Bilbao and will nurse it in Almería though. UD Almería 'B' centre-forward Marciano was also called up to the same African country squad, however he chose not to leave and begin preparations under Garitano's instructions after his official senior UD Almería debut at the San Mamés Stadium.
This Wednesday, the squad will have two training sessions (10:30am and 8pm) on the Anexo pitch. On Thursday, the Rojiblancos will exercise in the morning, while on Friday, they will do so in a double training session and on Saturday in the morning.
Despite there is no league action at the weekend, Gaizka Garitano and his coaching staff did not want to waste any time so as to check their players' match fitness and start to instill their football concepts and game plan in them in order to try to reverse the situation as soon as possible.
