
Francis and Barbero face a challenge they want to overcome in Almeria
Both players are officially presented. They underline the great aspirations of the club
Francis Guerrero and Iván Barbero have been presented by Mohamed El Assy as new players of the UD Almeria, now that the winter transfer window has met its deadline. They have not hesitated to make it clear that they are joining an ambitious club, who are looking forward to gaining promotion to the top professional football division.
The loaned player from Real Betis took his turn first. Francis Guerrero stressed that he wears the rojiblanca shirt ‘with a strong desire and enthusiasm’ to do his bit to help the team to win promotion.’ He also added ‘This is an ambitious goal to achieve and it is also a huge challenge. It will be good for me to gain experience’.
Francis has defined himself as a versatile defender who can easily adapt himself to any formation as he has already proved.
On The other hand, Iván Barbero has been described by Mohamed El Assy, the UD Almería’s CEO, as a ‘son of our team who returns home’. The forward born in Almeria returns home and explained that, at first, it was a big surprise for him: ‘I have always hoped I would come back, but I didn't expect it so soon. I am so happy to be back home’. He spoke his mind to the media, ‘I could not believe the offer but I did not think twice before taking it on’.
During the presentation, the forward has defined himself as a player who ‘likes controlling the ball, winning aerial duels and playing line-breaking passes. He has also praised the skilful Almeria’s strikers, ‘I am coming here to learn from them. I will take on my role, I will not miss out on the scoring chances so I will give it my all’.
