Football is back in the Mediterraneo in a ‘social bubble’

As of Monday, the Rojiblancos begin group training in which no more than 10 players can participate. Footballers create a friendly and productive atmosphere

…Football is back at long last! Yes, it seems so because the Rojiblancos, as well as the rest of the First and Second Division clubs, began training in groups of 10 players on Monday, in line with health protocols, as LaLiga takes another step towards the planned resumption of the coronavirus-hit season next month. Almeria left socially distant training behind and started to carry out group training.

In this new phase, it is already possible to tackle, play rondos, small-sided games and so on. In addition, footballers interact with their team-mates again creating a friendly, productive and positive atmosphere on the pitch. Therefore, they are noticeably enjoying training much more and exercising enthusiastically with higher intensity since the hope is that First and Second Division games can begin in mid-June.

The squad was divided into three groups, two of ten and one of nine. The Anexo training ground was divided into two halves. One group was placed in one half and the second one trained on the other. Moreover, balls of different colours were used so that each group had their own equipment aiming not mix up with that of their ‘neighbours’ since health and safety security measures are still maintained at all times. After finishing this training, the third group took over.

The presence of more coaching staff is also allowed in this new phase. Except for the head coach, José María Gutiérrez, the rest of the coaches and medical services are only allowed to give instructions and work with a specific group.

The groups were split as follows: Sivera, David Costas, Petrovic, Romera, Jonathan Silva, Vada, Dani Albiar, Enzo, Corpas and Juan Muñoz, formed the first set of players; Jero, Callejón, Ozornwafor, Balliu, César de la Hoz, Aguza, Appiah, Lazo and Barbero, were grouped together; Fernando, Maras, Juan Ibiza, Iván Martos, Francis, Coric, Kaptoum, Rubén Enri, Darwin Núñez and Fran Villalba were the third bunch of players.

This practice of ‘static grouping’ keeps players in the same groups during this current preparation phase. Two-a-day training has been scheduled on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, working on their physical fitness in the evenings, at both the Anexo training ground and the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium.
