Fernando: ‘The team is now where it’s supposed to be’

The goalie highlights that for the squad’s piece of mind, they reached the play-off positions and gives importance not to relax ahead of Mirandés

After getting back into training, goalie Fernando gave his take on the latest win: ‘The team is now where it’ is supposed to be having a peace of mind after rising through the ranks to play-off positions, the place where all of us wanna be’. He also recognised that the bad run of results caused ‘nervousness’ since the team were close to the foot of the table despite the fact that the championship began two match weeks later for Jose Gomes’ players.

The goalkeeper focused on Mirandés’ visit to the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium next Saturday and underlined considerable importance to not relaxing and always keeping in mind that LaLiga SmartBank is well-known for the fact that ‘all the teams are evenly-matched and anyone could give you a hard time at some point.’

‘They compete well. They are true fighters and we should never expect that it will be an easier match than any other. Whoever you think are easy rivals…will probably prove you wrong and make things difficult for you’, added the native of Murcia while commenting on the Rojiblancos' next league encounter.

Moreover, Fernando referred to the fact that the dressing room would like to ‘continue along the same lines’ that allowed the team to clinch victories both in Sabadell and Vallecas. In this sense, he stated: ‘We’re very well. I think that from the strength everything is easier. If you happen to manage a goal in any play, it is likely that you’ll win the game.’ At the same time, the goalkeeper recalled that Cádiz, last year, as well as both Espanyol and Mallorca, this season, achieve triumphs as a result of not conceding many goals and increasing their strength, a factor that UD Almería has also found.

After taking six points in two consecutive away fixtures, Almeria now intend to become stronger on home turf. Before concluding, Fernando Martínez pointed out ‘we’ll have to fight against teams who ‘come with a different mentality with the idea of playing more defensively’, thus preventing our contenders from creating of goal scoring opportunities.
