Rubi: 'This team are going to show that they fight for everything'

The UD Almería head coach states: 'We're waiting for our time to end the drought of victories and it's close.' The gaffer admits constructive criticism, not damning criticism: 'In 3 months, they will paint our faces, now we must help and stick together.'

'This team are going to show that they fight for everything, every game, every point...' stated UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' in the pre-Sporting press conference. The head coach recognises: 'It's very hard for us to go 5 games in a row without winning. The truth is that we haven't played good games, but in several of them the goalkeeper has been the rivals' best player.'

'We have a burning desire for this to change, and we're working hard for it. We're waiting for our time to reverse the situation, and it's close,' said the Catalan.

Despite being on a 5-game winless streak, UD Almería is in the play-off and only three points away from direct promotion. The man in the driving seat of the Rojiblancos' seat admits and assumes constructive criticism, but not what he described as 'damning.' On that note, he stated: 'If things don't go the way we want in 3 months, they can paint our faces. Now we help and stick together; demonstrate that we want our team to achieve their objective.'

When looking ahead to Saturday's match against Sporting Gijón he said: 'It's going to be complicated. They can get into the top positions and they'll fight fiercely for it.' On the other hand, he highlighted: 'We're going to a fantastic stadium with exemplary fans. It's true that the environment is harsh for the visitors, but elegant at the same time. You enjoy football there. I spent several months at Sporting and I've got great, fond memories such as meeting Enrique Castro, 'Quini' and his family.'

Moreover, the Vilassar de Mar native was pleased with the public apology to the UDA fans by Lázaro Vinicius after the uncomfortable situation when he was benched in last Monday's match against Elche CF. On the other hand, he regretted the injury picked up by Chumi, with a muscle tear suffered in last Thursday's session. The availability of Arnau Puigmal and Melero will be decided in the last football practice.
