Gonzalo Melero: 'There is eight teams with one or two points in it'

The UD Almería central midfielder states 'this international break is going to be brilliant for us' and 'our best version' must be recovered.

UD Almería attacking midfielder Gonzalo Melero has caught up with the media and has commented: 'The team has to take a step forward and restore the good vibes from the first half of the season. If we do that, which we've already demonstrated, I'm convinced that we'll stay up.' The Rojiblanco footballer has mentioned the following about this international break: 'It's great for us because Celta de Vigo have several internationals and the players will go into the game with many minutes in their legs. It'll be very useful for us to raise awareness and to train well.'

With regard to the time that the next opponents are going through, Melero said: 'Right now it's difficult to go to Balaídos because they're on a good run and everything is working out for them.' The 29-year-old, who has on the treatment table for weeks and made his return from injury in the last game scoring a great goal against Cádiz CF, commented: 'There is eight teams with one or two points in it.' As long as you are one game away, anything can happen. We have to think about ourselves, more than our rivals.'

When answering the question of 'Melero-dependence', he has been clear: 'UD Almería have played great games without me. It'd be unfair to say that the team is better with or without me. They played a brilliant game in Seville and If we were to win, as we deserved, no one would've said anything to me. I was at home enjoying myself with my team because we deserved to win, and on the other hand, it couldn't be. I'm delighted to play again but the squad has played great games without me in all honesty.'
