Chumi: "We're one game away from reversing the situation"

The UD Almería centre-back acknowledges that the team's run is very disappointing, but states: 'This isn't the end.' He asks the fans to trust and remember that last season they won the first away game in Getafe

UD Almería co-captain centre-back Chumi has caught up with the media at a press conference to talk about the team's situation, the resumption of the league Saturday's match at the Coliseum stadium. The Rojiblanco player made it clear: 'This isn't the end and we're one match away from being able to change the situation.' Needless to say, their bouncebackability has to be proved sooner rather than later.

On that note, the 24-year-old central defender recognised that 'the reality of UD Almería looks bad' because they have not won still this season, they are the bottom team at the moment with only three points in the table, but at the same time, he argued: 'Our most direct rivals aren't winning either. If we're able to do it, we'd see things differently.'

For this reason, the Laracha native has asked the UD Almería fans to 'trust us and also be sure that we're going to give our all.' Chumi understands that the fans feel discouraged and disappointed with the team. In fact, he indicated: 'We're hurt because we always give it our all in training and we seek every day to reverse the situation, and yet we cannot achieve it, but despite this, we nerver give up; we can't wait to win! We try to clear our minds and work as hard as possible thinking about the next game.'

The next LaLiga EA Sports fixture against Getafe CF is around the corner: 'The Coliseum is a good stadium to try to reverse the situation. Last season, we won our first and only away game in the league there. We put an end to a losing streak there.'

When the central defender was asked about Saturday's opponents, he explained: 'They're an attacking team that play games more physical, with lots of duels and second balls. We must be prepared more in that aspect, being solid in defence and then, make the most of the chances we create.'
