The UD Almería head coach congratulates his team on a fantastic performance and explained: 'CD Leganés did a tremendous job in the first half and at half-time I told the players that if we wanted to win, we had to be patient.'
UD Almería head coach Xavier García Pimienta underlined the significance of the 3-0 victory in his post-match press conference following the game against CD Leganés: 'This win is a real achievement'. He went on to explain: 'They did a tremendous job in the first half, defended very well and left us no space. At half-time, I told the players that if we wanted to win the game, we had to be patient, stay calm and take the chances that came our way, which is exactly what we did.' He also highlighted Miguel de la Fuente's contribution, adding: 'Miguel has been very clinical. He's a great striker and I want to congratulate him'.
'Although the goals came in quick succession and things worked out very well for us,' the Rojiblancos' boss pointed out: 'We put in a very complete performance. We created chances, prevented CD Leganés from hitting us on the counter-attack and stopped Morata from receiving the ball. I want to congratulate the squad on the fantastic performance they put in.'
It was UD Almería's 6th consecutive league victory, as well as another clean sheet. They has also moved into the automatic promotion places. García Pimienta was asked whether the side was now where he wanted it to be and he replied: 'We've played only 9 games, and there's still a long way to go. I'm very happy with the work we do every day in training and with the way the team competes in the league. We have to keep going in this direction and continue to improve. This run is very important and it could give us a cushion if difficult moments come along later.'
The Barcelona native once again praised the supporters, dedicating the victory to them as well: 'They were patient in the first half and even when the goal wasn't coming, they never stopped encouraging us. We were then able to reward them (supporters) by picking up all 3 points.'
