Rubi: 'A fourth straight win is a big challenge for both us and Córdoba CF '

The UD Almería head coach admits they must improve defensively but praises his side’s attacking as he describes the visitors’ current form as 'outstanding.'

'Winning 4 league matches in a row, especially in this division, is very difficult, but it’s a challenge we want to take on. Córdoba CF feel the same because, like us...they're coming off 3 consecutive wins,' said UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' ahead of Saturday’s Andalusian game.

Two in-form sides will meet and the UD Almería gaffer labelled Córdoba CF’s current run as 'outstanding'. 'We’re up against adversaries with a clearly defined style of play and very clear ideas. Iván Ania is doing a spectacular job,' he explained.

Rubi expects an open contest. 'It'll be a game with plenty of exchanges between two teams who don’t speculate and who will look to attack. There will be high intensity and lots of 1v1 duels. They press strongly and, like us, are brilliant in transition.'

The Catalan revealed that his squad has worked hard on areas for improvement during the week through video sessions and individual talks. 'We don’t like conceding goals and we’re working to get better defensively. But we have talented, creative players and it’s not easy to place them into a strict defensive structure,' he admitted.

Rubi also pointed out that the top-3 teams in the LaLiga Hypermotion table are the highest scorers and boast the best goal difference. 'That’s a very important factor to keep in mind,' he stated.

'We've got maximum respect for Córdoba CF, but we believe we're able to beat them,' Rubi concluded.
