The UD Almería midfielder praises the quality of the squad and highlights the team's progress, while acknowledging that there is still room for improvement. The Madrid-born insists: 'In this division, practically every game is extremely difficult'
'I feel comfortable at UD Almería and can bring out the best in myself,' stated UD Almería midfielder Javi Muñoz during an interview on UDA Radio, the Club's official radio station.
The Madrid-born midfielder was speaking about how he has settled into life at the Club during his first few months. He explained: 'The adaptation has been quick and excellent', before adding that 'it's helped that I had already worked with head coach García Pimienta before, so I know his footballing philosophy and what he expects from me'.
He also highlighted the strength of the squad: 'We're a great squad, and it's a pleasure to play alongside these team-mates. I'm very chuffed and everything around the Club makes things easier'.
The Rojiblancos are already focused on their upcoming clash against Girona FC, another difficult test. However, as Javi Muñoz pointed out: 'In Segunda, practically every game is extremely difficult'.
'Girona FC are a fantastic team who have recently been relegated from the top flight. It'll be a tough match, but we must focus on ourselves and go there with the intention of taking all 3 points', he said.
Javi Muñoz also reflected on UD Almería's progress this season, stressing: 'We must keep working and improving, especially in the second halves', referring to the recent matches against Real Oviedo and SD Eibar.
The 31-year-old considered the point earned at the Ipurúa stadium a huge one although he admitted that there was still room for improvement: 'We fought until the very end and were unlucky to see the ball hit the crossbar. But, as I said, there are things we need to improve. The team are focused and working hard to iron out those details so that we can secure all 3 points'.
Javi Muñoz has enjoyed an impressive football career, making more than 400 appearances, including around 100 in the top flight. However, he has never experienced promotion to the highest level of Spanish football, something he describes as 'an exciting challenge'.
The midfielder also addressed the passing of Jesús de Miguel: 'These are difficult moments for everyone, especially for his family and CD Tenerife. We'd also like to send them our heartfelt support and a big hug from here. It was an unfortunate incident that we all wish had never happened and it reminds us that we must appreciate everything in life so much more.'
