García Pimienta's blueprint takes shape

The UD Almería head coach continues to stamp his identity on the squad as ball work and finishing drills remain at the heart of the Rijiblancos' pre-season preparations

UD Almería are still some way from the finished product García Pimienta envisions, but with every training session the team's identity becomes a little clearer. After completing his first full week in charge, the new head coach is laying the foundations for an intense, front-foot side that look to dominate games, create chances and stay switched on from the very first whistle.

Wednesday's football practice saw several players work indoors at the UD Almería Stadium as the physical demands of pre-season begin to take their toll. The rest of the squad returned to the pitch following Tuesday's double training day, with the focus once again on the ball through a series of continuous finishing drills.

Led by García Pimienta, the coaching staff continue to emphasise sharpness in possession and complete concentration out of it. The gaffer wants his players to move the ball with purpose while remaining fully alert to every situation that develops once possession changes hands.

The Rojiblancos will be back for another double training day on Thursday as preparations continue ahead of their first pre-season fixture against Águilas FC on Saturday (KO 8pm Spanish Time).
