UDA rising star Ramón Martos to represent Ireland at U17 World Cup in Qatar

The UD Almería youth star's absence to impact under-19s 'A' as World Cup duties await

UD Almería’s rising talent Ramón Martos is set to represent the Republic of Ireland at the U17 World Cup in Qatar from 3-27 November. The young midfielder, a key player for the Club's under-19s 'A' side and current captain, will be unavailable for his team during this period as he competes with Ireland at the prestigious tournament.

Martos, born in Dublin to an Irish mother and a father from Almería, is dual-national, holding both Irish and Spanish citizenship. His international duties come at a crucial time for UD Almería Under-19s 'A' preparing for a crucial home clash against CD Vázquez Cultural this Sunday at the Francisco Pomedio Stadium in Huércal de Almería.

The length of Martos' absence will depend on how far Ireland progress in the tournament, with group-stage fixtures scheduled against PanamaUzbekistan and Paraguay in Group J. As his team’s captain, his departure is expected to be a significant loss for head coach Rafilla’s side.

Meanwhile, UD Almería Under-19s 'B' will take on Pavía for their Matchday 8 encounter, currently sitting second in their league.

There are no league fixtures this weekend for the Under-16s, Under-14s or Under-8s, but the Under-12s 'A' and 'B' as well as the Under-10s 'A' teams will look to extend their strong form after recent victories.

The UD Almería Under-10s 'B' will face Ciudad de Roquetas on Tuesday, 4 November at the Juanjo Salvador facilities.
