Real Oviedo will be UD Almería's rivals in the semi-finals of the promotion play-offs to the top division. The 3rd and 6th-placed teams from the LaLiga Hypermotion regular season will face each other, while the other match will feature Racing de Santander (5th in the standings) and CD Mirandés (4th).
The first leg for the Indálicos takes place next Saturday, 7 June at 9 (Spanish Time) at the UD Almería Stadium, while the second leg will be played on Wednesday, 11 June at the same time, at the Carlos Tartiere stadium in the city of Oviedo.
Head coach Rubi has described the tie as a 'big game's given the fact that Real Oviedo are considered the most powerful opponents the Rojiblancos could take on. It is no wonder they finished 3rd in the standings behind automatic promoted Levante UD and Elche CF.
As the UD Almería gaffer pointed out, the Oviedo side are the only side in the play-offs that the Indálicos have failed to beat this season. They lost 3-2 at the Carlos Tartiere stadium and drew 1-1 in Almería.
UD Almería, like the rest of the teams, will go into the play-offs without any bookings as they do not accumulate, which is a relief for the Indálicos who had 5 players facing suspension, such as Luis Suárez, Arnau Puigmal, Sergio Arribas, Nico Melamed and Lucas Robertone, who were not booked against CD Tenerife.
