Rubi: 'The match was won by the collective effort'
The UD Almería head coach praises his team’s resilience and skill against tough CD Castellón side
UD Almería head coach Rubi highlighted the importance of his team’s collective effort in securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over CD Castellón: 'The win was more about teamwork than individual brilliance.'
In his post-Castellón comments, Rubi emphasised his team's ability to endure against a physically strong opponent. 'We finished with skill and the ability to endure,' he said, reflecting on the challenge posed by CD Castellón. 'They have a very good approach to the game, attacking with a lot of physicality,' the Catalan added.
The victory was particularly commendable, given the fact that UD Almería managed to keep a clean sheet against such a formidable side. Rubi noted: 'Except for the period from the 30th to the 40th minute, we controlled the game and spent a lot of time in CD Castellón’s penalty area. We might have been too hasty in our finishing during that spell.'
Looking ahead, Rubi praised the team’s balanced attack, pointing out that goals have been coming from multiple players each Matchday. 'We’re in the leading group, but we must remain cautious as there are many teams close behind. This is going to be a long-distance race and we’re well positioned,' the Vilassar de Mar concluded.
