Arribas: ‘The match against CD Mirandés is the most important’
The UD Almería attacker speaks on UDA Radio about his first hat-trick, the final stretch of the season and an objective: ‘We want to lift the Segunda title’
UD Almería have managed to establish themselves in the automatic promotion places to top-tier LaLiga EA Sports and according to Sergio Arribas, they are not satisfied: ‘Nothing comes easy and if you're second it's because you've done something very well to be up there. We wanted to depend on ourselves and we've achieved it. Now we're focusing on Racing de Santander and we'll try it game by game.’ In the same interview, the rojiblanco forward also said: ‘The ambition we have is to finish first and lift the Segunda title.'
The Madrid-born is not looking beyond next Monday and is focused on the importance of the game at the UDA Stadium: ‘CD Mirandés have got a lot at stake and are just one match away from getting out of the drop zone. It'll be a tough game and we need our fans like they've been in these matches, because they're the ones who have brought us here.’ He added: ‘Our supporters give us an extra boost and we owe them everything. We want to take UD Almería back where it belongs after some difficult years.’
And although the 24-year-old has always prioritised team goals over individual ones, in the interview on the Club’s official radio station he also referred to his battle to finish as second-tier top scorer: ‘This year I knew I had to step up in terms of goals because last year I finished on 9. I admit that at the start I set myself a target of 21 goals, which had been my best record so far at Real Madrid Castilla. I'm very happy to have surpassed it.’
