Rubi: 'The match is vital and we must win it no matter what'

The UD Almería head coach says: 'The past month and a half we've been trying to bring positive energy to reach the final stretch of the league with confidence and we must finish it on Sunday.' He also says that the support of the fans is crucial and warns that CD Tenerife will make things very difficult for them

The match against CD Tenerife is vital and we must win it no matter what,' said UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' as he described the final LaLiga Hypermotion match of the regular season, in which the Rojiblancos will play for qualification to the promotion play-offs.

The Catalan gaffer made these statements at the pre-Tenerife press conference explaining: 'We've been trying to bring positive energy for about a month and a half to reach the final stretch of the with confidence and we must finish it on Sunday because it'll be crucial for us to face the play-offs.' On that note, he added: 'We've won the last 7 matches we've played at home and away, and we're improving quite a bit.'

'CD Tenerife are going to make things very difficult for us. Despite having been relegated, they're competing well and with dignity. They have good players, skilled players, a head coach with extensive coaching experience... In the last 10 matches they've played, no one has scored 2 or more goals and they have only lost 2. We're going to have to fight our hardest,' stated Rubi.

The Rojiblancos arrive at this final match 'depending on ourselves thanks to the effort and work we put in on the last Matchday at the Anduva Stadium,' Rubi stressed.

'The 3 teams we face in the play-offs depend on our match,' referring to Racing Santander vs Granada CF. The UD Almería gaffer asked for the massive support of the fans, 'which will be decisive for us,' he commented.

The Vilassar de Mar native ruled out Robertone due to injury, while as he explained, Gui Guedes is doubtful. Rubi made it clear: 'At home, we always start trying to open the scoring as soon as possible and set a strong pace. It's non-negotiable. We want to engage our fans from the get go and eliminate the uncertainty of the result as quickly as possible.'
