Edgar: 'Saturday's game is the one that will change our run.'
The UD Almería centre-back says: 'In training, you can feel a bit of anger about winning a game' and emphasises: 'We still have time for everything, and it depends on us.' The player is self-critical, understanding the fans' feelings, but calls for unity 'at this key moment of the season.'
'I'm convinced that Saturday's game against Real Zaragoza is the one that will change our run and the one that will also boost our momentum for the rest of the LaLiga season,' stated UD Almería centre-back Edgar in an interview on UDA Radio, the Club's official radio station.
The 27-year-old player acknowledges: 'It's clear that we don't have the confidence or joy we had two months ago, but at the same time, we're motivated and eager.' In fact, he argued: 'This week is being special because in training, you can feel a bit of anger about winning a game.' Edgar was self-critical and acknowledged: 'We played a poor game in Éibar. We were coming off two good performances in which we came close to winning, and perhaps the goal we conceded so early on affected everything. I don't think it was a lack of attitude. In any case, you learn from everything.'
Regarding Saturday's vital match, the versatile UD Almería player reflected: 'In Zaragoza, we began that run of 14 matches without losing, and hopefully, the new match against them will be the starting point for turning things around again.'
When asked about the opponents' situation, he acknowledged that it was complicated, but stated: 'We must focus more on ourselves, and if we take control and play our game, we'll win the match.'
The UD Almería centre-back made it clear: 'As a group, we're convinced that we have time for everything and that it depends on us.' On this same topic, he added: 'There are teams that have gone through a similar streak to ours, although perhaps it has been more obvious in our case. We know what the second tier is like, and the important thing is to reach the finish line, but the journey is long and with many twists and turns to overcome. These are steps that must be taken, and the most immediate one is Saturday, when we're focused on winning now.'
On the other hand, the Sant Joan Despí native emphasised: 'We're at a key moment of the season' and called 'for everyone to stick together,' expressing the importance of the fans' support, referring to them by saying, I understand that they're tense. We're coming off a huge disappointment like last season, and now promotion, which we all want, has become more of an obligation than a dream, and even though there are bad moments, the process isn't enjoyable.' Edgar added: 'We're going to try to make Saturday a special day for everyone.'
